Crafty Monday

Hi all!  I got a new camera for Christmas so hopefully all my camera problems are behind me!  So hopefully I can keep up with daily posts again!  Hope you will keep checking back!

This is a craft I made a lot over the Christmas holiday cause it made such a great, inexpensive, homemade, useful gift!  I have also made some for a couple of wedding shower gifts as well.  And they have been a big hit all the way around!

Dish Towel Apron

All you need is a dish towel, you can get these for a dollar at Dollar Tree, some cute ribbon, and a sewing machine!
Now I've made the waist apron as shown in the above pic. and also the up and down kind that goes around your neck too.  It depends on the design on your dish towel.
With the waist apron all you need to do is sew the ribbon on both sides and you are done!
On the up and down one (don't know what else to call them! ;)  Pull in the two corners at the top of the dish towel til they meet, and sew.

Then measure out some ribbon just long enough to fit over your head.  Sew onto the top.
Last sew ribbon on at the middle to tie around the waist and you're done! :)

Here is a REALLY cute idea for a jewelry rack I found the other day online!  Hope you enjoy! :)

Wire Whisk Jewelry Tree

What You'll Need:
Wire Whisk
Wire Cutters
Glass Vase
Decorative Pebbles

Take the wire whisk and cut wires in half.  Bend out in whatever form you would like.  You can curl the ends, thread beads on the arms, etc...
Place the handle in the glass vase and fill with decorative pebbles.
Then, hang your jewelry on it!  (The pic. isn't the greatest but it gives the idea...)

Kids On Tuesday

This is a really cute Fall idea to do with kids!  They can go out and pick out their own leaves and come in a make this!  This is also a really neat way to preserve the colors of those gorgeous leaves you find out on your nature walks!  I have some friends that did this and put them in a picture frame!

Craft

Hello all!  I keep thinking that I am getting back on routine blogging but then all the sudden life gets busy again!  :P  But I will go ahead and warn you I am going to NH for 2 weeks so I won't be posting during that time but I hope to post some pics. from the trip when I get back!  I am VERY excited about going.  I have never been to NH before and while we are there the Fall leaves will be at there peak!  :)  So here is an adorable craft to keep you all while I'm gone...
I am so excited about this one because it is the first idea sent in by a girl that does not live in my country!  Thank you so much Hannah!  I love it!

Rosettes

These can be used in so many ways:
-on a hair elastic
-on a bobby pin
(like that one up there)
-on a brooch pin
-on cards and for scrapbooking
-decorate the corners of your
tv or computer (if you have a fat
desktop one like me)
-sew them onto your clothes/hats
-make tiny ones for earrings
-on a dog's collar (so cute!)

and the list goes on and on.

They are so quick and easy to make, and you can use whatever fabric and buttons you want, to match any genre of dress. Every girl should like them.

For this size (ends up 4cm across), you need an 8cm in diameter
paper template, which you can use over and over again.

~1~
Pin the template to your desired fabric. I used an old top.

~2~
Cut out the circle. Sew a running stitch about 4 millimetres away from the edge. I started doing each stitch individually, but then my sister pointed out a quicker way to do it. You put lots of stitches onto the needle, and THEN pull the needle through. Like this:

Make sure it goes into a little bag shape; to help, you can stick your finger inside it.
Here's what it should look like once you've sewn all around.

~3~
Flatten out the 'bag', keeping the thread tight.
(The tan spots on my hand are the remains of a henna tattoo)

~4~
Next comes the tedious task of choosing a button. This part always takes me the longest, haha.

~5~
At the same time as sewing your button on, sew it onto your chosen item if possible.

~6~
Admire and wear.

Frugal Craft

Here is a really fast and easy frugal craft, a beaded bookmark!  It doesn't take much to make and it would make a cute gift as well!
(Sorry about the pic. quality guys!  I REALLY need to get a new camera but while I'm working up funds ya'll will just have to put up with me!  :)
Jordan

Beaded Bookmark

18 in. hemp cord (I didn't have that so I just used some thick thread)
Beads
Ruler

Make a knot about 2 in. up from one end.
String your beads on and make another knot above them.
Do the same on the other side but making sure there is 10 in. in between the inner knots for the book.
Trim off any extra.

And there you go!  (I think the hemp cord would look better but the string was all I had!
>I was being frugal<  ;D

Frugal Craft

Here is a frugal craft you can make with last years calenders!

Calendar Envelopes

Take an envelope and gently take it apart.  Lay it out on a piece of cardboard and trace around it.
Cut it out.  Now you have a form for future!
Take your cardboard cut out and place it on the picture of a calender.  Trace around it and cut it out.
Fold, making the dates the inside, and glue the envelope in the right places and there you go!
I think these really dress up a letter!

Frugal Craft

And bring on the Frugal Month!

Jean Craft #4

Here is the last craft from a pair of jeans.  These 4 crafts have been a good and fun way to recycle old unwearable jeans!

This one is VERY simple and only works if the jeans have a side pocket on the leg.
But basically cut the pocket off the leg as close to the seams as possible without cutting the seam.
Cut part of the seam off the leg and sew it on the back for a little strap.  (If desired.)

And decorate it with a ribbon or whatever!
Use it as a pencil pen holder for your school desk, sewing table, craft area, you name it!  :)

”Paper Picture Frame”

I needed something to go above my bed in my bedroom, so I thought of what I could make that would match my room and be cute. I bought a picture frame, that held 7 pictures, at Gordman’s.

Then I cut out pieces of colored scrapbook paper, making sure they would fit perfectly into the picture frame.

Then I added sticker, and stamps.

Then I hung it on my wall! After I took the picture, I glued to pink flowers to the top left hand corner, and the bottom, right hand corner of the picture frame.

Jean Craft # 3

Here is the third craft I made out of one pair of jeans!  I thought this was really fun!  You could do so much with it! :)
Jordan

Jean Bracelet

Cut a 6 in. thick by 12 in. long strip off the leg of the jeans.
Cut 2 in. strips from one end to with in 2 in. of the top as shown below.

Secure the top end and braid the strands all the way down.
Tye a knot at the end.

Poke a hole through the top of the braid and stick the knotted end through to secure around your wrist.
You can add ribbon or beads or both to dress it up!
