Crafty Monday

Jean Craft # 3

Here is the third craft I made out of one pair of jeans!  I thought this was really fun!  You could do so much with it! :)
Jordan

Jean Bracelet

Cut a 6 in. thick by 12 in. long strip off the leg of the jeans.
Cut 2 in. strips from one end to with in 2 in. of the top as shown below.

Secure the top end and braid the strands all the way down.
Tye a knot at the end.

Poke a hole through the top of the braid and stick the knotted end through to secure around your wrist.
You can add ribbon or beads or both to dress it up!

Scripture Sunday

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12

We need to be an example for those younger girls around us to be Godly young women.  Virtuous, gentle, frugal, honest, of good report.  Turning to and pointing them to the Lord.  Being a witness to those around us.  Not being focused on ourselves but others.

Hairdo Week!

Announcing my "Blotsy Shop"!  ;D  Check the tabs above to see what's up!

I haven't had any entries for the scrapbook contest so I think I will cancel for the time being and try again some other time.

*************************

Here is the last of the Hairdo Week!  It has been really fun!  I think I'll do one again in the future!  Thank you to all who sent stuff in!  And if you didn't get a chance this week I do a Hairdo Day each week and I could always use ideas!  :D
Jordan

”First you braid a small section of hair. Then dab a little bit of gel or mousse on the end to keep it from unbraiding. It works best with gel. Then either keep your hair down, or put it back in a pony-tail! Easy!”

Hairdo Week!

I'm posting this tonight for tomorrow because we have snow storm warning til tomorrow morning so our Internet might go down, so if you don't hear from me for a few days that's why!  :}
***************************

This has a really neat look to it!  Thanks for sending it in!  :)
Jordan

Here is a hairdo for a little girl's hair.  It's a harder one to do
and get to look nice.
First take small chunks of hair from where the hairline begins and
put in a pony tail.  Do NOT use elastic or all the hair will fall out
when the 'do' is being taken out.
Split the sections into two parts and take half of one and half of
another and ponytail with some hair from underneath.  I'm not sure
how best to describe this so please refer to the picture.
Continue the above process till you get about two-thirds of the way
back, then start putting the hair into fewer and fewer ponytails till
all the hair is in one ponytail.

Flip the braid over your head and attach to the other side with abarrette or bobby pins.

Pull your hair back in a ponytail to hide where the braid started.Ta da! Now you have a braided headband.

Hairdo Week!

Love this lady's hairstyles!  And since she already has them on video thought I'd post some of her styles this week too!  Here is a REALLY cute side french braid called the Waterfall Braid!  And you can do it on any length hair.  It looks cuter on long but I tried it on my short hair and it looked great too!

And here's how to do it on yourself!

Scripture Sunday

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

Game Friday

Biblical Who Are You?

This is kinda like 20 questions.
Have everyone sit in a circle.
Then have each person in their mind pick a person in the Bible.
Then, start with the oldest person and let them ask any one person in the group a yes or no question about themselves, (the Bible character).
If the answer is yes, then they can ask that person, or a different person, another question until they get a no.
Then you continue clockwise around the circle.
When someone is found out they can only ask one question on their turn regardless of the answer.
The one that is the last one to be guessed wins!  :D

This is a great game to test your Bible knowledge!
Also, you don't have to pick the popular characters!  You can pick someone that maybe only gets mentioned once in the geneologies or something!  You do have to know their name though.

*Make sure to send in your hairdo's!!!  The hair week starts Mon.!  :)

*Also, the Scrapbook Contest is coming up soon!  The prizes are posted as well!  So head over to the Scrapbook page and check it out!

*And... There is also a new Photo Contest in May!  Be sure to take a look at that too!  :D

1 t. Baking Powder
Dash of Salt
5 Large Apples

1/4 c. Sugar

Kids on Tuesday

This is a craft I LOVED to do when I was younger!

Take a cereal box and cut out a square.

Have the child take colorful crayons and color in small areas til the whole page is covered.

Then, have them take a black crayon and color over the whole page.  It needs to be totally covered, no color showing through.

Next, take a paper clip and bend out an end so you have a point...

Now they can doodle on the black and the colors will show through!

Scripture Sunday

Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Philippians 1:1

The description of the Christians is given in terms of their relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ- and that must, of course, ever be remembered to be the true starting point of all Christian experience and all Christian instruction.  We do well, in taking up the study of any of the epistles, to inquire carefully into that matter of where we stand in reference to Him.
In a fundamental sense, the epistles are the property of believers; they have, except incidentally, nothing to say to the people of the world.  Their message is addressed to the church, the members of His body; their teaching is to be grasped and enjoyed only by those who have been truly "born again" by the same Spirit who inspired the writing of the epistles.  We are, therefore, not wasting time if we pause to ask ourselves about our relationship to Christ.  Have we, indeed, received Him into our hearts and lives as our own personal Saviour?

Only so do we have legitimate entrance to this treasure house; but if so, we have undisputed access to all its treasure trove.  Our relationship to Him, then, determines both how we get into if and what we get out of it.  Note what is said here concerning that relationship, for the terms employed are applicable to all believers- both to Paul and Timothy who send forth the epistle, and to the original and all subsequent readers of it, you and me among them.

Game Friday

Card Making Race

This is a REALLY fun game to play at a party!
Lay out some card making materials on a table.
Divide girls into teams of 2-4.
Give the girls a theme or a person to make a card for.
Like... Thank You card, or Springy card, or Cards with flowers on them, etc...
The girls have to make 1 card per team, working as a team to make the card.
Have the teams work in different parts of the room so no one can steal anyone elses idea.
Have a time set, like 5-7 min. for them to make the cards.
At the end of the time period have the teams stop and display their cards.
You can decide which you like best or you can have a mom or all of the girls vote!
It's a lot of fun to see what comes up at spur the momment!  ;)

Hairdo Wednesday

Here is a fun twist to a braid! Thanks for sending it in Tracy! :)

Jordan

Rope Braid

First, ponytail your hair.

Then split it into three sections just like you would a regular braid.

Take one of the outside sections (it does not matter which one) and pull it over the other two. Then takethe next section on that side and pull it over.

Once your hair is twisted all the way tie it off.

I found this to be fairly easy, but it might be even easier with wet hair to keep the sections together.

Kids on Tuesday

Here is a game/activity that would be good in a teaching setting or for just a time filler.

Before class come up with a different sound for each member of your classroom.  It can be hard like the tinkling of keys or drop of water in a cup... to something easy like making an animal noise.  Depending on the age of your class.
Then, take a blind fold and in turn have each one of the kids come to the front of the class and have them sit in a chair.  Cover their eyes to were they can't see at all.  Make one of the sounds and have them see if they can guess what it is without any help from their classmates.
Do this til each child has had a turn.

This would be a good activity after a lesson about that God made our eyes. Telling the story about Jesus healing the blind man.
Or about the ears, telling the Bible story of Jesus healing the deaf man.
Whichever one, stress how good God is and how grateful we should be if He gave us hearing ears and seeing eyes.  And how He is so powerful and awesome to create such things!

Crafty Monday

* Take note, the next 4 crafts that I post on Crafty Mondays were all done from 1 pair of jeans!  So hold on to the scraps from this craft!!! :)

Craft #1

I think these are so cute!  So I was sooooo excited when I found out how to make these and found they were so easy!  (Sorry this one is so faded.  But it's what we had around the house!  :)
Jordan

Jean Bag

You'll Need:

Pair of old blue jeans
Scissors
Sewing Machine
Ribbon and Fabric Paint, if desired

Instructions:

Take your jeans...

And cut straight across right were the legs connect with the top part of the jeans.

Then turn them inside out and sew the bottom together.  Try to have the seams in the front and back be as close together as you can.  Turn right side out.

For the straps:  You can take overall straps (which would be easiest because the ends are already sewn) but you can also cut straps out of one of the legs like I did.  Sew ends under...
*If you are going to sew a ribbon on the strap you should do it now before you attach your strap to the bag.

And attach to the tops of your bag.
(You can do one or two straps, whatever you prefer.)

Now to fancy it up you can loop a ribbon through the belt loops...

Or sew a ribbon along the strap...

Or, if you have fabric paint, You can doodle on it!  :D
There are so many cute things you could do on these so be creative! :)
