Game Friday

Here is a REALLY good ice breaker game for a large group.  They played this at our Teen Night this Wed. night at church.  The teens seemed to really enjoy it!
Jordan

Find the Name Game

First, type and print out sheets of paper that have each letter of the alphabet listed with a line out from each letter.  Like this....

A.
B.
C.
D.
E.
etc...

Pass a sheet out to each player with a pen.
Now, when you say go everyone has 2 min. to try to fill up their sheet with names.
How they accomplish this is they have to go around and ask people what their name is and the person in return has to tell them their whole name, first, middle and last.
Each person writes down the names with the starting letter.

Example:
J.ordan
K.
L.
M.arie

Continuing to ask people till the 2 min. are up or their paper is full.
At the end of 2 min. whoever has the most names wins!

Game Friday

I think this game sounds like a TON of fun!!!  I've been wanting to try it at a girls party but just haven't gotten the chance.  If any of you do it leave me a comment and tell me how it went!  :)
Jordan

Nail Polish Spin

Place several colors of nail polish in the middle of a circle of girls.  Now, have the first girl spin a bottle of nail polish.  Who ever the cap is pointing to when it is done spinning must paint one of her fingernails that color.  Then that person spins the next color of nail polish .... and so on.  Paint your toes also to make the game last longer.

Game Friday

This looks like a REALLY fun game! Thanks for sending it in Tracy! :D
Jordan

Clue
This game is a combination of Clue, Charades, and Telephone.
A team of four people will leave the room and the people who are left
will pick out a person (Tigger, Cinderella, a pastor, etc.) a place
(the desert, a school bus, kindergarten, etc.) and a thing
(shoestring, refrigerator, etc.) Once the three things are decided
on one person gets called back into the room. He is told what the
three things are and gets to act them out to the second person. Once
the second person thinks he knows what the things are the third
person is called into the room and person two acts them out to person
three. (NO sound effects are allowed) Person three acts the things
out to person four and he gets to guess what the things are.

Game Friday

This sounds really fun! Thanks for sharing it Rebecca! :D

Jordan

Rhyme Time

Takes 3 or more players.

How to play: The first player starts the game by thinking of two rhyming words-like bench and wrench.

To help the other players guess the rhyming words, the first player shares a clue. She might sat, "It starts as something you can sit on and becomes a tool."

Now the other players have to name things you can sit on. They'll offer possibilities like chair, couch, stool.

When they finally say "bench," the race begins! Players start rhyming out loud until someone come up with the word wrench.

This game can also be be played with a theme like American history, science words or things in the Bible, such as tomb and perfume. As a clue, you might say, "Lazarus spent some time in this place, and this liquid was poured on Jesus' feet."

It's a great game to play in the car or pass the time on a road trip.

Safety pins

Paper
Pencil

Ok, take the apron and kitchen stuff and pin them all over the apron.
When you are ready to play, pass out a piece of paper and pencil to each person.

Give everyone a min. to observe the apron and the contents on it.
Then have the model leave and have everyone write down as many things as they can remember!
The person that remembers the most wins!

Frugal Game

Here is a really fun and frugal game we played at a wedding shower but it would be fun for any type party!  Everyone seemed to REALLY enjoy it and it was easy to get ready.  It uses coffee filters!  ;D
Jordan

All you need:
Coffee filters
About 10 different kitchen spices
Ribbon
Little pieces of paper

Take a spice and place about a tablespoon in the middle of a coffee filter.
Bunch up the top and tie a ribbon around it to keep it closed and attach a piece of paper with a number on it.
Now, write down on a piece of paper that #1 is ____ so you will remember which is which!
Do this with all your spices.

For the party... hand each player a piece of paper and a pencil.
Start at one end and start passing the bags of spices around having each person smelling them and writing down what spice they think it is!
After all the spices have been passed, read the answers out loud and let everyone grade themselves on how they did!
The person with the most correct wins!

*Don't store the spices together or they will mix smells and you won't be able to tell them apart!

***********************

Here's a fun game to play with friends at a Birthday party or just a fun get together!  It tests you to see how well you know the people you call your friends!

? ?      Do I Know You?     ? ?

All you'll need is...
A piece of paper for everyone
A pen or pencil for everyone
A bowl
And 10 to 15 questions pre-written on a sheet of paper

Pass everyone a paper and pencil.
Set out the sheet of paper with the questions in the middle of the group for all to see.

The questions should be about the person themselves like...
What's your favorite color, animal, sports team, eye color, food, drink, things to buy, hobby, holiday, restaurant, musical instrument, etc...  Try to pick some out of the ordinary ones yet a few more familiar ones too.

Then have everyone write their names at the top and their answers in order on their pieces of paper.
Have them fold them in half and place them in a bowl.
Shake the bowl once or twice to mix them up.
Then have everyone pick out a paper.
Take turns reading the papers aloud and guessing who the person is!

Game Friday

Even though I’m not a little kid, I still like playing this game on a bus, or outside with a group of kids that has nothing to do! So here it is.
You have some kind of ball, and the players form a circle. The ball is passed quickly around the circle while the kids sing this song. Whoever is holding the ball when the song ends at “And You Are OUT!” is out and they sit out. And the circle keeps getting smaller and smaller until there is only 1 person left. Here is the song. You can sing it to Yankee Doodle or other familiar tunes, or you can make up your own tune to sing it to!

”The Wonder Ball”
The wonder ball, goes round and round, to pass it quickly, you are bound, if you’re the one, to hold it last, I fear to say the game is past and you are OUT!

Game Friday

Biblical Who Are You?

This is kinda like 20 questions.
Have everyone sit in a circle.
Then have each person in their mind pick a person in the Bible.
Then, start with the oldest person and let them ask any one person in the group a yes or no question about themselves, (the Bible character).
If the answer is yes, then they can ask that person, or a different person, another question until they get a no.
Then you continue clockwise around the circle.
When someone is found out they can only ask one question on their turn regardless of the answer.
The one that is the last one to be guessed wins!  :D

This is a great game to test your Bible knowledge!
Also, you don't have to pick the popular characters!  You can pick someone that maybe only gets mentioned once in the geneologies or something!  You do have to know their name though.

*Make sure to send in your hairdo's!!!  The hair week starts Mon.!  :)

*Also, the Scrapbook Contest is coming up soon!  The prizes are posted as well!  So head over to the Scrapbook page and check it out!

*And... There is also a new Photo Contest in May!  Be sure to take a look at that too!  :D

Game Friday

Card Making Race

This is a REALLY fun game to play at a party!
Lay out some card making materials on a table.
Divide girls into teams of 2-4.
Give the girls a theme or a person to make a card for.
Like... Thank You card, or Springy card, or Cards with flowers on them, etc...
The girls have to make 1 card per team, working as a team to make the card.
Have the teams work in different parts of the room so no one can steal anyone elses idea.
Have a time set, like 5-7 min. for them to make the cards.
At the end of the time period have the teams stop and display their cards.
You can decide which you like best or you can have a mom or all of the girls vote!
It's a lot of fun to see what comes up at spur the momment!  ;)

Game Friday

Here is a fun game that our family has played before when we're in the car or just around the house as something extra as we go about our normal day!  It's easy but it really makes you think!

Spell That Word

And I call it a game, it doesn't have a winner or looser and you just stop when you want...
All it is is you have to spell the last word of your sentence rather than say it!  I know it's really simple but it is really fun!
For example:  "Isn't it cold o-u-t-s-i-d-e?"
"Yes it i-s!"
"Do you think it will snow a-g-a-i-n?"
And so on....
So if your stuck in the house with nothing to do and need a little something to spice up the day- spell it!

Christmas Cookie Countdown

Here is another cookie recipe from my great grandmother.  She loved to bake cookies especially at Christmas time.  So at family gatherings there would always be several plates scattered throughout the house with her yummy treats.  This is one she always brought.
These were my favorite when I was a kid.  I'd always take the red hots off and eat them first and then eat the rest.  ;)  Christmas is such a good time for memories.
Hope you enjoy them!  :)

Christmas Wreath Cookies

4 T. butter
4 c. mini marshmallows
6 c. cornflakes
green food coloring
red hots

Melt butter in large pot.  Add marshmallows and stir til melted.  Add green food coloring until desired darkness.
Stir in corn flakes.  Mix until well coated.
Then spoon onto greased wax paper.  Place three red hots on wreaths before they cool so they will stick.

Here's another fun game I just couldn't pass up on sharing...

This is a great game for Christmas parties or family gatherings!
Give everyone a candy cane as they arrive.
Through out the night if someone hears someone else say the word 'Christmas' they get that persons candy cane.  The person with the most candy canes at the end of the party wins!

Christmas Cookie Countdown

Cut-Out Gingerbread Cookies

These cookies have a secret ingredient- coffee!

2 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. ginger
1/2 cinnamon

Combine above ingredients. Set aside

In another bowl, cream together ( in the order given)

1/2 cup ( 1 stick) butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup strong brewed coffee

Slowly add flour mixture to above mixture.

Chill for 2 hours. Roll out until 1/4" thick.
Use desired cookie cutters to make cookies.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on a greased or
parchment lined cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

Let cool, then decorate! I like using red and green frosting and
cute Christmas sprinkles.
Enjoy! These make quite a few, but they are so
good that you will be glad for the extras!

And here's a quick, fun Christmas game I heard of this week!

Pick two or three people out of the group as volunteers.  Give them each a piece of green construction paper.
Have them put there hands behind their back.
In a given time limit they have to try to tear their green construction paper into a Christmas tree behind their back!
It's not as easy as it sounds!  Try it out!

Game Friday

Here is a hilarious game to play in the car or even during the day!
Jordan

<<<- WHAT?! ->>>

This is kind of like a word tag.  And the word 'what' is it.
Pick a person to be it.  They are the only one that gets to use and say the word 'what'.  And they try to make someone else say 'what'.  The person that says it, is it!  And the game goes on until you decide to stop!  :D

When my brothers and I first played this game we didn't realize how often we said that word!  It's a challenge!
Have fun!  :)

Game Friday

<<<- Take the Prize and Pass It On ->>>

Here's a give away game to play at a girls party!

Write down about 10 or more random questions.  Like...
Whoever has the longest hair.
Who's the youngest person here.
Who has the biggest purse.
Who has the most things in their purse.
etc...

Then when the time comes to play hold the prize and read the first question.  Whoever, for example, has the longest hair, or whatever you first question is, gets the to hold the prize while you read the next question.  Then the person who answers that question gets to hold the prize and so on down the list til you get to the last question.  The person that answers the last question is the winner and really gets to keep the prize.
It's a fun game that keeps people guessing at who gets the prize!

Game Friday

Here's a fun game for all you music lovers!  We played this at our church choir Christmas party one year and it was really fun!
Split up into two teams or more.
Have a designated piano or any instrument player.
Have several hymns or songs picked out that most everyone in the group will know before hand.
Have the music player play a measure (or two if you have to) from the beginning or end of the song and either have the teams blurt out what song they think it is or have the teams take turns guessing.  Keep score and the team with the most points at the end of the game wins!  :)
